Based on Truth presents a series of vignettes about behind-the-scenes decision-making and emergency response that happen in the daily lives of venue managers around the world and over the years.
Linda Deckard and Jessica Boudevin, who spearhead the interviewing and writing of this blog, are experienced reporters in the realm of live entertainment and sports and meetings, with contacts around the globe in arenas, stadiums, theaters, convention centers, fairs and festivals.
Our goal with this blog is to share the short takes, the “behind the headlines” moments that not only entertain but educate. We say it is “based on a true story” to allow us the license to spin the tale without extensive research and second interviews. These are your stories and stories are “an account of imaginary or real people and events told for entertainment. “
Based on Truth is a precursor of even bigger stories – books about the industry.
Our first endeavor is a biography of Barbara (Mother) Hubbard, tentatively due for publication in July of 2019. It is more than a biography, it is her incredible story, but again, with our disclaimer — based on a true story.
We invite your input and we intend to have fun. This is not a “who, what, when, where, why” news vehicle. It’s there, but it’s wrapped in interpretation and reminiscense and is as close to what really happened long ago and yesterday as we can imagine.
